While there are the rewards in cruising to beautiful landscapes, enjoying the sunsets and glimpsing history and culture of new places, a satisfying benefit of traveling the coast is meeting people. From the salt-of-the-earth commercial fisherman and boatyard worker to the wealthy entrepreneur or university professor, we've enjoyed meeting new folks, learning their stories and learning from their experiences. We're honored to meet so many good people and so grateful that they continue to contribute their efforts to worthwhile causes with grace and humility. The people we meet, along with the young people we know, give us a glimmer of hope for the future of the nation and the planet. A brief return to Florida for appointments allowed us to meet up with our newly-engaged niece Lindsay and her fiancĂ© Matt in St Petersburg before getting back to our home. What a delightful couple! Summertime, and the living is busy.

  MAINE SUMMER (If videos do not load on email, please use the blog link to view.) There is so much going on in our area of Maine in the summer. It’s like Mainers cram in a whole year’s worth of events into 12 weeks of great weather. Well, the weather is not always great, but it’s pretty good.   T he people of Maine are so welcoming and friendly. From a chance phone call to an iconic Rockport luthier, Nikos Apollonio, we were invited to his house for a delicious salmon and lamb dinner, and of course to see his amazing collection of instruments. He is a local legend and has credits for making guitars for folk performers, including maritime singer Gordon Bok, and Paul Stookey of Peter Paul and Mary.
