The BEST and the REST....
The BEST and the REST… we’re sharing ratings of our favorite top 3 as we go!
RESTAURANTS/BARS
2. Dessert First, St. Augustine - at the Camachee Island Marina. This breakfast and lunch place is right in line with Lee’s epicurean philosophy!
3. Chart House, Melbourne - as restaurant chains go this one is at the top.
MARINAS
1. New Smyrna Municipal Marina - helpful and friendly and a very nice downtown district.
2. Melbourne Harbour Marina - nice quiet place with decent facilities
3. Camachee Marina, St. Augustine - a large marina with great facilities, a little further away from the historic district, but very nice.
4. Windmill Harbour Marina, Hilton Head - while the surrounding community is a little too sanitized for our taste and Hilton Head is a tourist town, this marina was very nice. Boats lock into (and out of) the marina basin from the wide river, but that keeps the 6-8' tides at bay and provides a smooth, not rocking, slip. The facilities are nice, with access to a pool and tennis courts.
• Marker 1 Marina, Dunedin - great location for the passage from Shell Point - and a Publix close by!
MARINE SERVICES
1. Diesel Services of SW Florida - Mike Muscante has been taking care of AQUAVIT’s CAT 3116s for many years
2. Camachee Marine, St. Augustine - Thanks to Ben who tracked down a bad connection on our starboard engine instruments.
THE REST
1. Blue Bar - Brunswick - a newly opened cozy performance venue serving beer, wine, and blues.
2. The Hub, Melbourne - a great gallery, music, and working art studios. Props to whoever put this concept together.
DISS HONOR ROLL
1. Marina Variety Store Restaurant, Charleston City Marina - slow and poor service, cold food. Good she-crab soup, but it wasn't hot.
